FOXHOLE SPIRITS WINS THREE SILVER AWARDS FOR FOXHOLE GIN IN THE 2017 INTERNATIONAL WINE AND SPIRIT COMPETITION

West Sussex, July 2017.

Foxhole Spirits is delighted to announce that it has won three silver awards in the 2017 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) for Foxhole Gin. The three categories in which the West-Sussex producer achieved silver success are Gin-London Dry, Gin-Contemporary Styles and Gin & Tonic.

Founded in 1969, the IWSC is considered to be the most prestigious competition of its kind in the world.

The awards given by the competition are believed to be among some of the highest honours in the industry. Judging for the Competition is unique in that it has two stages; first, the products are tasted blind by expert panels, selected from over 300 fully experienced and qualified industry judges. Products which receive the top medals are then subject to technical analysis before results are released; this crucial stage ensures winners receive complete validation.

Launched in September 2016, Foxhole Gin is distilled with a spirit made using English grapes from Sussex vineyards, produced from the tonnes of pressed grapes wineries throw away every year. Co-founders Sam Linter and James Oag-Cooper created Foxhole Gin after pursuing their passion for sustainability and utilising the by-products of winemaking.

MD and co-founder, James Oag-Cooper comments: “We are very proud to be triple award winners at the IWSC this year with Foxhole Gin. Foxhole Spirits has not yet completed a full year of trading and what was judged is only our second batch. These wins are a strong and clear sign that there’s a bright future for what we do here at Foxhole Spirits; creating unique, premium quality spirits with a focus on using otherwise unused resources, promoting sustainability and creativity within the drinks industry.

James continues: “We’re especially pleased that Foxhole Gin has won across three different categories, as consistent quality, flavour balance and versatility is what we aim to achieve with our products. No two grape vintages are the same, so our raw material changes from year-to-year too, providing us with the unique ability to improve and develop each batch with the aim of more success in future competitions. Our next batch is also fantastic and we’re incredibly excited for the launch later this year. In the meantime, the triple award winning Batch 2 is available in a limited quantity to both consumers and the trade.”
